The Paperworks Story: From Dream to Impact
Paperworks was born in 1992 out of a brother’s love and determination. Kevin, one of the founders, wanted to create opportunities for his brother Andrew, who had cerebral palsy, at a time when post-college options for adults with disabilities were limited. The world focused on what Andrew couldn’t do, but Kevin saw potential and set out to change that.
With support from Adult Social Care and initial funding through the “Care in the Community” initiative, Paperworks officially became a company in 1994. Starting with six trainees in a small Harrogate site, the focus was on printing and finishing tasks. Over the years, Paperworks grew steadily, introducing new training opportunities, wellbeing programs, and diverse work tasks tailored to empower adults with learning and physical disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges.
Growth, Innovation, and Resilience
By 2015, Paperworks had outgrown its original sites and moved to a larger warehouse in Leeds. As technology advanced and industries changed, so did Paperworks. Fulfilment services and shredding became core offerings, and partnerships with clients expanded to include assembling kits, packaging products, and shipping orders globally. Trainees took pride in their roles, learning skills that built confidence and independence.
Beyond work, Paperworks fostered creativity and connection. From flash mobs and wellbeing projects to collaborations with Leeds City College, we bridged gaps and enriched lives. Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted by creating work-from-home packs, hosting Zoom calls, and producing NHS wellbeing boxes and hampers to support frontline workers.
Fulfillment Services Tailored to You
As Paperworks evolved, so did the services we offer. Today, we’re proud to provide comprehensive fulfilment solutions that help businesses grow while making a positive social impact. From receiving and storing products to picking, packing, and shipping orders, we handle every detail with care and precision.
Our trainees are involved in every step of the process, from organising stock to ensuring each order is packaged to perfection. Whether it’s preparing bulk shipments for global distribution or packing hampers and well-being boxes, we combine professionalism with purpose, creating a seamless experience for businesses and their customers.
Looking Ahead
Today, Paperworks thrives as a dynamic social enterprise, supporting up to 25 trainees daily in our vibrant Leeds site. With our ever-growing fulfilment services, bespoke projects, and our own brand, “A Little Bird Told Me,” showcasing trainee-created gifts, we continue to adapt and bloom.
Paperworks started with the belief that everyone has potential, and that belief still drives us. Our journey is one of empowerment, growth, and celebrating what people can do. Every new day brings more opportunities to grow together—and we can’t wait to see what’s next.

In October 2012, we officially opened a Leeds office. This office has grown rapidly, providing work and training opportunities similar to our Harrogate office. In 2015, the Leeds office expanded into New Premises.
Paperworks now provides part-time training based on an individual’s abilities for as long as it is appropriate. We also recognise that for some trainees, we have become their place of work, whilst for others, we are a bridge into the wider world of work, as illustrated by our logo.
We continue to give people the opportunity to maximise their potential and demonstrate their independence. We are continually developing our business to sustain the environment for this to happen.
Paperworks now employs nine staff across two sites and operates an outreach programme into more rural areass
